THE 1975
The 1975 are generating some real hype right now. The Manchester lads have recently released their album ‘A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships’ and they are already set to fire out part two of the instalment this Summer. Will Reading & Leeds be the first to hear the new music? Following on from their landmark performance headlining the Radio 1 Stage in 2016, this is set to be another milestone performance, cementing their status as one of the biggest and most exciting bands in the world.
YOU ME AT SIX
Reading & Leeds veterans You Me At Six once again return to the main stage this year after a quiet spell following the success of their last album ‘VI’ released only a year ago. It seems as though the guys have been working away to surprise us with another release earlier than anticipated. Rumour has it they are set to release new music later this week! Expect a spectacular mainstage set from YMA6 with some huge hits and possibly a few new song debuts thrown in for good measure. They’re back again!
PALE WAVES
Over the past year or so Pale Waves have stolen the hearts of the UK with their debut album ‘My Mind Makes Noises’ which is packed with indie pop singalongs. The Manchester quartet fronted by Heather Baron-Gracie have a real charm to them and they will be ready to steal the show on the BBCR1 stage. “We want to create a whole world and take it as far as we can. There shouldn’t be boundaries”. – Heather
THE WOMBATS
Last year The Wombats really impressed us. It was easy to overlook them on the mainstage with such a huge line up, but they absolutely smashed it out of the park and they are back to treat us to it all again this year. If you’re not dancing to ‘Let’s Dance To Joy Division’, bouncing to ‘Kill the Director’ or having an emotional singalong to ‘Turn’ then you’re probably not doing your weekend justice!
ROYAL BLOOD
The incredible live set of the duo Mike Kerr & Ben Thatcher aka Royal Blood is a spectacle of talent and proper English rock. The duo have played Reading & Leeds over recent years and always blown us away, so this year should be no different. The fact these two can hold the mainstage for a huge set with ease speaks in volumes. We hold high expectations for Royal Blood as they sub headline the mainstage with their huge rock hits ‘Lights Out’, ‘Little Monster’, ‘Figure It Out’ and many many more.
TWIN ATLANTIC
One of our favourite rock bands return to Reading & Leeds after a very quiet year or so hiding away. Not much has been said by Twin Atlantic but their Reading & Leeds set could be the resurrection of the Scottish rockers as they propel themselves back into the scene and possibly drop some new music very soon indeed. Their back catalogue is full of ferocious rock and powerful riffs to have us all bouncing, crowd surfing and singing our hearts out in a Scottish accent once again!
SEA GIRLS
Picture the scene. Thousands upon thousands of fans gathered in one space with hands aloft, screaming along to every word and their body shaking with adrenaline as track after track hits them like a tidal wave. That feeling, of being wrapped up in a band who seize the euphoric and turn it into something vital and real in front of your eyes, that feeling is what makes a band special. Emblazoned front and centre, it’s what Sea Girls burst and pulse with – a band aiming first and foremost at being the torch-bearing sing-a-long for a whole new generation and a band trading, at its core, in what may seem the simplest of sciences. Turn everything up a notch, write anthems to throw yourselves into and be that soundtrack for the best nights of people’s lives.
BOWLING FOR SOUP
Bowling For Soup are always great value for money. If The 1975 isn’t your thing and you’re keen for some real pop-punk and comedy then the Pit/Lock up is the place to be. This is no flash in the pan, gimmick band. Certified hit singles such as the Grammy Nominated ‘Girl All The Bad Guys Want’ and the US smash hit ‘1985’ over consecutive releases, back to back, more than proved this. This sweat fest in the Pit/Lock up sounds incredibly enticing…
