The Japanese House release new single ‘Maybe You’re The Reason’

THE JAPANESE HOUSE has shared her new single, MAYBE YOU’RE THE REASON, taken from her debut album GOOD AT FALLING, which will be released via Dirty Hit on 1 March. A glowing sad-pop anthem, MAYBE YOU’RE THE REASON debuted as Phil Taggart’s Chillest Record on BBC Radio 1 and sees THE JAPANESE HOUSE [aka Amber Bain] looking for a glimmer of hope in the midst of a crisis.

“It’s about being depressed and realising there’s no meaning in anything. Then in the chorus I thought, I can’t keep this up! I need to make it something nice. I thought about my girlfriend at the time, and how maybe loving someone is the reason you live? It’s the cheesiest chorus ever, but I think it needed it.”

Listen here:

Produced by THE JAPANESE HOUSE [aka Amber Bain] BJ BURTON [Low, Bon Iver] and GEORGE DANIEL from the 1975, GOOD AT FALLING includes the lead singles LILO and FOLLOW MY GIRL, and follows four acclaimed EP releases. The album began as demos recorded by Bain on her laptop in her room in London, and was finished in studios across Wisconsin, Brussels and Oxford. The result is an album that draws from Bain’s life in a way her work never has before; a personal, vulnerable and yet confident body of work. “These songs are definitely more direct,” she explains. “The album has a lot more of me in it, so it makes sense.”
