James release video for new single ‘Dear John’!

JAMES are proud to announce ‘DEAR JOHN‘, the next single to be taken from their new album, GIRL AT THE END OF THE WORLD. The track is the fourth to be taken from the #2 album, beaten to the #1 spot by the unstoppable Adele.

DEAR JOHN, an electro ballad about, “being an emotional coward who has always found it hard to finish relationships,” comes hot on the heels of a storming set at Glastonbury where the band officially opened the festival, cutting the ribbon with Michael Eavis and then playing the prestigious opening set of the festival. You can watch the full Glastonbury set here!

Accompanying DEAR JOHN is a beautiful, Tim Burton-esque video that gives the song new layers and an enchanting draw. Director Peter Vacz blends stop-motion with 2D and 3D animation to craft two deceptively real characters venturing into a mystical forest. You can watch the video here:

TIM BOOTH of JAMES says: “It was inspired by the age of long term relationships being finished by a text. A Dear John letter was a letter that a soldier would receive at the front from their loved one saying she had finished with him. James have written songs that get played at weddings and funerals. Now we have made one for your divorce”.

Next on the bands’ tour are European festivals, calling at Latvia, Greece, Spain, Romania and Portugal before ending the summer with a co-headline slot at On Blackheath Festival in London then headlining the new On Roundhay Festival in Leeds.

JAMES will also perform at the World Cup ’66 Minute by Minute tribute event for England’s famous World Cup victory against Germany in 1966, supported by the BBC and the Football Association. Full details can be found here: http://www.wc66.org/
