As previously announced by the That’s Not Metal Podcast, the award-winning ArcTanGent Festival have today announced 17 new bands for the 3-day festival, set on Fernhill Farm, between 16th-18th August 2018 including headliners GLASSJAW and SHELLAC. GLASSJAW will be the Friday night headliners, and will be welcomed to the festival for the first time. Very few bands have the critical acclaim that GLASSJAW have had since they formed in the early 90s. They recently released the excellent Material Control album to a rapturous response. This will be a festival exclusive for 2018. Beck from the band simply said, “Shellac? Yes please,” when asked if they were excited to headline. So that brings us nicely onto the next headliner.
SHELLAC should need no introduction. The trio, which includes legendary producer Steve Albini [Nirvana, PJ Harvey, Mogwai etc] will be yet another festival exclusive when they headline the Saturday night of ArcTanGent Festival. “Since we’ve never been to the festival, I’m not sure what we could say about it other than that we’re looking forward to playing in Bristol. It’s nice there. Are there still a lot of road works going on?” says Bob Weston from the band. One of the most dynamic live bands around, their set will no doubt be one of most talked about in the festival’s history. “This feels like the biggest and best announcement we’ve ever done at ATG. Having Glassjaw and Shellac as main stage headliners will be amazing but, personally, I’m also very excited about Pelican’s first visit to Fernhill Farm – it’s certainly long overdue. I’d really urge people to check out our Spotify playlist. We put a huge amount of effort into curating a line-up that has strength in depth from the top to the bottom – so go check out Telepathy. Check out Scalping. Check out Zeal & Ardor if you don’t know them. Check out them all,” says James Scarlett, the organiser. As James mentioned, the mighty PELICAN will be playing Fernhill Farm after almost two years away from the UK. You won’t want to miss this exclusive.
